Achievements of the Mashreq / Maghreb Adaptive
Research Programme and Lessons Learned

Jointly financed by IFAD and AFESD and implemented during 1996-2003, a regional adaptive research programme for the development of Integrated Crop / Livestock Production in Low Rainfall Areas of WANA (the "Mashreq / Maghreb Project") achieved relevant technical, institutional and policy results to be tested and transferred at community level in the form of integrated crop / livestock production systems in low rain-fed areas of WANA.
